Tens-of-thousands of mines are spread throughout the Mojave Desert.  Some quite famous and well known, others merely a hole in the ground and lost to time.  There’s little information about the JET Mine, located in the Searchlight Mining District.  But, it does have a documented history of producing gold and silver.  All the references I can find about this mine show the name capitalized, but I can’t find anything on what the abbreviation stands for (if you know, please contact me via the Contact Me link at the top).

The headframe of the mine has now collapsed into the mine shaft.  And the shaft has since been “roped off” with barbed wire.  There are several ruins scattered about…foundations, pumps, wood & tin, etc., along with 4 – 5 different tailings piles and adits.
