The Oakland Mine is located in the Searchlight Mining District of Nevada, near Lake Mohave.  Many of it’s original structures are still-standing, including the stamping mill, headframe, water tanks, pumps, etc.  But, there are also plenty of ruins (collapsed buildings, miner’s litter, etc.).  The road was reinforced by paving over a line of very old cars.  Definitely one of the stranger things I’ve seen!

There’s not much I can find about the mine, like when it was opened, how much ore it produced, etc.  The little information that does exists is that it was owned by The Oakland Group and was used for mining gold.

Besides a large number of open pits, you also have to be careful as the mining area is under restoration.  This is usually done to protect the desert tortoise (or some other protected species).
