Black Tank is located in the spectacular Mojave National Preserve.  There are ancient petroglyphs located throughout this area.  Most of the designs in this area appear to be abstract, but there are a few anthropomorphic stick-like figures, atl-atls and zoomorph figures.  It appears that this location was used for several generations, due to the different wear and weathering patterns, as well as newer designs over-laying older, faded ones.  This is just one of several incredible ancient rock art locations sprinkled throughout the Mojave National Preserve and adjoining areas.
