The Kaibab National Forest is a 1.6 million acre old growth pine forest surrounding the Grand Canyon.  It’s a beautiful area.  The southern Kaibab forest covers over 1,400 square miles with elevations that range from 5,500′ to over 10,000′ (summit of Kendrick Peak).  There are fire watch towers that you can climb up and get some amazing views.  In high winds, these towers can really sway, but they’re still safe.
